Symphonik! – a project to inspire a new generation of youth orchestras across the UK
The psychological, intellectual and emotional benefits of learning an instrument are indisputable and yet most children in state schools outside of London never get the chance to discover which instrument they would excel at. Less and less children are learning orchestral instruments due to a number of factors; cost of lessons, cost of instruments, lack of parental knowledge. Children (and parents) will always learn more easily accessible instruments such as guitar and piano but orchestral instruments give children wonderful opportunities to be part of an orchestra, an experience which will shape not only their understanding of music and culture, but their understanding of listening and working as a team. In Kent and Sussex alone, the decline of Youth Orchestras over the last 15 years is massive, from 12 down to 3 which are now active. In this year’s BBC Young Musician of the Year, all finalists were from private schools. At Inspire the Nations we aim to redress this balance through our Symphonik project which will target state schools who do not have an instrumental music program. This project has been tried and tested by Inspire the Nations founder, Lydia Martin in the independent school sector with funding from parent fees.
Not Forgotten – a project which aims to stimulate those in hospital or care homes through musical performance and connection. Currently this is in partnership with Stars Appeal Live at Salisbury NHS Hospital, bringing music to patients.
Light Bearers ~ is a documentary film or possibly series, capturing stories from a diverse network of artists across the globe; a unique group of men and women whose Christian Faith and creativity have remained central to their life’s journey.
Faith and creativity dwell in juxtaposition throughout the history of the church, with many artists seen as the non-conformists across all the denimonational streams.
Light Bearers will reveal the heart of some of those whose pioneering journeys are a pathway of hope for generations to come. Light Bearers will inspire, encourage and help to build bridges between people groups everywhere, and serve to create a platform for dialogue and renewed Faith.

The Huguenot Project ~ will depict, through film, the extraordinary events surrounding the Huguenot exodus and revival which took place in the Cevennes during the 17th Century. Rather than focusing on the persecution and violence surrounding the Huguenot history, we will seek to shine a light onto the incredible influence the Huguenots have been throughout the world and the miracles which were and still are unprecedented.

Together We Rise Kids ~ is a project to gather children aged 5 to 18 to “ditch” their devices and find alternative creative ways to connect with each other. The inspiration for the project is an original song composed by Lydia Carter and produced by Jason Carter which features vocals of children from 14 different nationalities age ranging 5 to 18 years.
The song was released during Covid with an accompanying music video featuring groups of young people connecting with each other across the seas through the age old “message in a bottle” concept.
This song and video aim to bring hope and reconnection to our young people throughout the world.
The song continues to be popular in schools and has received numerous performances but the aim is to use the song as a catalyst for intergenerational and cross cultural projects to bring a sense of ambassadorial pride to the young people of the United Kingdom and their families.
